VITRA Amoebe Highback Chair
Verner Panton, 1970
There has been a resurgence of interest during the last few years in
the Danish designer, Verner Panton. An outspoken advocate
of space-age living and libertarian lifestyles during the 60's and
70's, Panton's furniture designs are again making stirring
contributions to the spheres of contemporary interior living. Many are
rapidly approaching the status of design icons of the 20th century. The Amoebe was originally dreamed up for Panton's famous Visiona
installation. It is a marvellous example of close-to-the-floor lounge
furniture and embodies the spirit of the early 1970s. Amoebe Highback has a flexible backrest that curves over the head of the sitter, forming a sculptural canopy. In this way, Amobe Highback creates a sense of shelter and seclusion - especially in large, open spaces. Materials: laminated structure, foam upholstery. We are happy to provide fabric swatches on request.
