VITRA Organic Highback Chair
Charles Eames & Eero Saarinen, 1940
The influence of Charles and Ray Eames was fundamental to the
development of Vitra. Its activity as a furniture manufacturer began in
1957 with the production of their designs. Yet it was not only the
products of Charles and Ray Eames that left their mark on Vitra. With
their approach to and understanding of design, they made an ongoing
contribution to the values and goals of the company. For the competition 'Organic Design in Home Furnishings,' the Eames, along with Eero Saarinen, designed the Organic Chair in several versions for a variety of different sitting positions. The Highback has an elongated backrest with a molded neck support, making it a comfortable armchair for lounging or reading. The dimensions of the armrests and seat surface, which are wider and longer than the Organic Chair, also augment the seating comfort of the this version. Material: laminated seat shell, polyurethane upholstery, beech legs, stained back. We are happy to provide fabric samples on request.
