CARL HANSEN Hans Wegner CH 44 Ladderback Chair
At the Carl Hansen & Son Factory in Aarup, Denmark, the only chairs
produced are those that were designed by Hans J. Wegner. Although the
plant has been outfitted with the latest in high quality machinery,
the furniture crafted there is still made according to traditional
manners by a staff of highly dedicated people. One of the advantages of the CH
44 "Ladderback" Chair is its modest dimensions and light weight, which makes
it almost as easy to move around as a dining chair. The comfort it provides is optimal for
such a light chair with a woven seat and slim armrests. It can actually be improved by adding the optional CH 44 cushions
which make the chair a bit softer in the seat platform. The second cushion is
suspended from the top of the frame where a groove is made to hold
the two cushion loops.
