CARL HANSEN Hans Wegner CH 24 Wishbone Chair
At the Carl Hansen & Son Factory in Aarup, Denmark, the only chairs
produced are those that were designed by Hans J. Wegner. Although the
plant has been outfitted with the latest in high quality machinery,
the furniture crafted there is still made according to traditional
manners by a staff of highly dedicated people. Designed in 1950, the Wishbone (Y-Chair) has developed into Wegner's most popular chair by far. Ironically, when it was first introduced, its recognition was not overly positive and only a handful of
retailers purchased it for their showrooms. But to their astonishment, the consumers liked it, and during the following 15 years sales
increased to make it the leader in the Carl Hansen Collection. The CH 24 sits well, and its spaciousness allows its
user to change position. The back offers excellent support, and users report feeling comfortable in it for long periods of time. The curved top
rail makes it easy to maneuver around the chair, and although the arm rests
are long enough to give adequate support, it can
still be pushed in close to the table.
