VITRA .03 Chair
Maarten Van Severen, 1999
Van Severen's unified
process of design and production was a fundamental aspect of his work
over a long period of time, in which he devoted himself to the
examination of basic furniture types: chair, table, chaise lounge,
shelving, cabinet. He developed primary solutions for these categories
based on a comprehensive exploration of the questions of form, material
and construction. The aesthetic trademark of .03 is its clear simple lines – the quintessence of the concept "less is more". Only when the user sits down does he experience its great comfort. The soft seat and backrest shell made of integral foam support the body when sitting, together with the leaf springs integrated into the backrest.
Materials: integral polyurethane foam shell, back with integrated leaf springs, back legs in tubular steel, front legs in aluminum profile.
