In 1969, Vico Magistretti engineered a simple design out of a single piece of ABS plastic, a jewel-like chair in bright colors. It became known as the Selene Chair and is included in the MOMA permanent design collection and the Vitra Museum. First produced by Artemide, the chair gained an international following and helped alter public notions of beauty in modern design. Now reissued in 2002 by Heller Designs, Inc., the Selene Chair retains its ingenious S leg curve, which adds structural integrity to the design, and its sleek, economical lines. Injection-molded nylon, the Selene is appropriate indoors for residential as well as commercial use. Stackable to 6.
