MAGIS Chair One -Concrete Base

Konstantin Grcic, 2003

Born in Munich in 1965, Konstantin Grcic trained as a cabinet maker at Parnham College. In 1988 he moved to London, where he studied design at the Royal College of Art. A contemporary of Jasper Morrison, many of his products have received prestigious design awards, and some are on permanent display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In 1999 Grcic won the competition to furnish a public square in London's Canary Wharf. Chair One is his newest creation, marrying space-age design with industrial materials. The seat is composed of treated die-cast aluminum which is painted with polyester powder; it in turn is mounted on a concrete base painted transparent clear.  Frame choices include red, white, anthracite and black.  Polyurethane seat & back cushions available in sky blue, orange, fuchsia, grey and brown; leather seat & back cushions available in brown and black.  Suitable for use indoors or out.
