VITRA Panton Chair
Verner Panton, 1959
There has been a resurgence of interest during the last few years in
the Danish designer, Verner Panton. An outspoken advocate
of space-age living and libertarian lifestyles during the 60's and
70's, Panton's furniture designs are again making stirring
contributions to the spheres of contemporary interior living. Many are
rapidly approaching the status of design icons of the 20th century. Because of technical progress in plastics processing, the Panton Chair has been through a number of production phases since its original launch. The last version of the chair authorised by Verner Panton was produced in collaboration with the designer at the end of the 1990s. This model realised one of Panton's fundamental objectives for the first time: a plastic chair as an inexpensive industrial product.
Materials: polypropylene, dyed through, satin surface.
