MODERNICA Wire Side Stool- Dowel Base
The inspiration for the popular and oft-copied side and arm shell chairs was a competition held in 1948, sponsored by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture Design was motivated by the urgent need in the Post-war period for low-cost housing and furnishing design adaptable to small housing units. The concept behind the products was that mass-produced, standardized parts could be combined in different ways to meet the unique needs of each customer. After being out of production for decades, Modernica has reintroduced the wire chair using the same equipment that produced the original chair. Chrome footrest, maple or walnut dowels.
