VITRA Rocking Stool
Isamu Noguchi, 1954
Isamu Noguchi is considered a universal talent with a creative oeuvre
that went beyond sculpture to encompass stage sets, furniture,
lighting, interiors as well as outdoor plazas and gardens. His
sculptural style is indebted to a vocabulary of organic forms and
exerted a sustained influence on the design of the 1950s. Noguchi's Rocking Stools for Vitra are fun to sit on, combining playful and ergonomic aspects. Their cambered bases allow the stools to rock gently in all directions - protected by a contoured edge and a plastic support. Permanent collection; Vitra Design Museum. Materials: natural maple or maple stained walnut color, chromed steel wire.
