VITRA Bar Boy

Verner Panton, 1963

There has been a resurgence of interest during the last few years in the Danish designer, Verner Panton. An outspoken advocate of "space-age" living and libertarian lifestyles during the sixties and seventies, Panton's designs are again making stirring contributions to the spheres of contemporary living. Many are rapidly approaching the status of "design icons" of the 20th century. One of his best-known items of furniture on castors is Bar Boy, designed in 1963. A mobile container and side-table in one, it owes its cylindrical shape to Panton's predilection for basic geometric shapes and to it's function. Collection Vitra Design Museum. Materials: molded plywood with a high-gloss varnish, metal.
