VITRA Cone Table

Verner Panton, 1958

Verner Panton's Cone Table made it's official debut in the Danish magazine "Mobilia" in August of 1961, and immediately began to realign people’s expectations about how furniture should be designed. More accustomed to the traditional Danish cabinetmakers, people had a hard time grasping Panton’s futuristic designs. His radical design bounded into new realms of geometry, toying with a sharp inverted conical structure perched atop a low metal base. His Cone Chair and Cone Table were two of the first indications of how the Pop movement would use common universal symbols in furniture design. White or black MDF laminate top with sealed edging; brushed stainless steel crossed base.
