One of the original designs from Finnish designer Eero Aarnio, the Mushroom began life as a rattan stool and was a big seller. The first fiberglass prototypes were produced in the 70's, and actual production did not start until 1998. Since the name of the rattan stool was Mushroom in the U.S. market, and because the fiberglass version has the original shape and is equal in functionality, the second version carried on with the name. It's typical for high quality design that you can use it everywhere, and in combination with nearly everything. There is no doubt that the Mushroom Stool has found it's place in the family of famous Aarnio fiberglass designs.
