VITRA Wood Table
Maarten Van Severen, 2005
Van Severen's unified
process of design and production was a fundamental aspect of his work
over a long period of time, in which he devoted himself to the
examination of basic furniture types: chair, table, chaise lounge,
shelving, cabinet. He developed primary solutions for these categories
based on a comprehensive exploration of the questions of form, material
and construction. With it's well balanced proportions and formal simplicity, "Wood Table" can be described as the purest form. Maarten Van Severen’s design appears minimalist, but is nonetheless based on a sophisticated construction solution. Made of solid oak, inverse edges give the Wood Table tremendous stability and lightness. It's legs conceal a metal element that ensures a bend-resistant connection to the table top. Material: solid oak, varnished for natural wood effect.
